A virtual workshop on “Outcome Based
Curriculum II” was organized by ‘Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)’,
Britannia University on 6th July 2021 at 11:00 am -5:00 pm via Google Meet
Platform.IQAC, BU had set its third workshop on OBE Curriculum to facilitate
its major stakeholders to prepare them to meet the external and internal
quality assurance assessment and accreditation requirements. It was a day long
live workshop session.
The keynote speaker of the workshop
was Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam Director, IQAC, Noakhali Science and
Technology University (NSTU). The session chair of the seminar was the
Honourable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) of Britannia University Professor Dr.
Surajit Sarbabidya. There were also present Dr. S. J. Anwar Zahid, Registrar,
Britannia University, Dr. Md. Milan Hossain, Director, IQAC, BU, Mr. Md.
Tariqul Alam, Chairman, Department of English, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Chairman,
Department of CSE, Md. Md. Sheikh Shahidul Islam Shajib ,Asst. Exam-
Controller, all members of PSAC of each department, respected other
faculty members of the concerned departments and Admin staff of Britannia
University.
The session was hosted by
Tanjila Tamanna, Assistant Director, IQAC, BU. At the beginning of the session,
she welcomed the honorable director of IQAC, BU, Dr. Milan Hossain for
delivering his welcome speech. In his speech, he covered the significance of
Outcome Based Education, the importance of OBE curriculum development to get
the accreditation and urged all the departments to prepare their curriculum by
following the template of Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum and
Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF) which was approved by the
Education Ministry and the UGC. He finished his speech by giving thanks to the
distinguished keynote speaker and gave an invitation to work together for
developing a topnotch curriculum for each department. After that the Registrar
of Britannia University gave his speech by mentioning the important role of
IQAC to develop the OBE Curriculum and he also urged all the departments to
develop the OBE curriculum by following all the instructions given by the
distinguished expert. He expressed his gratitude to our distinguished keynote
speaker, Honourable Vice-Chancellor and other respected participants for their
kind presence.
After that our distinguished expert
Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, National Quality Assurance Expert, UGC &
Former Director, IQAC, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) was welcomed
to start his session. At first he started his presentation on “Bloom’s
Taxonomy” and in this session he discussed about the meaning of Bloom’s
Taxonomy, Bloom’s Three Domain of Learning, Sub-domain of Bloom’s Taxonomy and
Use of Bloom’s Taxonomy in OBE curriculum. In his second session, he discussed
about the Outcome Based Education. He gave focused on areas like BNQF,
Framework and Accreditation Council, Introduction to OBE and focus and benefits
of OBE. In his third presentation, he discussed about the components of OBE
Curriculum. In this session he gave emphasized on what is curriculum and
differences between curriculum and syllabus, Template of Curriculum and
expiation of different elements of curriculum. He gave some important
directions as to how QA, IQAC, PoE & PSAC will work together in future for
developing the curriculum. Then, he also discussed the importance of the OBE
curriculum, techniques of formatting the PLO, CLO etc. Finally, he showed his genuine
appreciation to the Director, IQAC, BU for taking initiatives for developing
the draft of OBE curriculum for LLB (Hons) and LLM programs. After the outstanding presentation by the
keynote speaker, the session was open for discussion. The members of the PSAC
of the concerned departments and other participants asked many questions to the
keynote speaker regarding the OBE curriculum. The keynote speaker answered them
all in a very effective way and enthusiastically.
After ending of the open discussion,
the Session Chair, Professor Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya, Honorable Vice-Chancellor
(In-Charge) gave his ending speech. In his speech, he talked about the role of the
workshop to become an expertise in a specific area and showed his utmost
interest to arrange more workshops in this matter, ensure the helping hands
from all corner of BU authority. He ended his speech with cordial thanks to the
keynote speaker, Md. Ashraful Alam for his outstanding presentation, Registrar,
Dr. S J Anwar Zahid for his kind presence throughout the session, Dr. Milan
Hossain, Director IQAC-BU for arranging such workshop on OBE curriculum and
other present participants for attending this day long session. The session was
ended with a vote of thanks from Tanjila Tamanna, Assistant Director of IQAC.
